Today a friend of mine asked me to have look on her blog and i was fascinated....so here we go, I am having a break from my dissertation and writing my first blog. However, I made it to be some sort of an executive summary of my research paper. I am writing about FDI (foreign direct investment) in the UK and its motives, flows, stocks and main consequences both to the British Economy and its society. It is a very interesting topic and I can assure that there is much more than simple market or ressource based foreign direct investment strategies due to the overall corporate diversification because of globalisation. Why is it that transnational companies in some industries prefer the UK and not countries on mainland Europe? Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to invest in lets say Middle Europe in order to have a strategic hub to serve the whole European market? Is it just the knowledge pool with all its research facilities in R&D and simple regulation, taxation or incentive policies that the UK seems to attract investments with? What are the main impacts on the UK? All these questions and many more need to be answered but I do like the research behind it and I hope that the outcome will be a great end of me being a student...
Now back to the coffee machine getting an espresso and then back to the books
